Dev Log 008 - General Update and Progress Report!
What has changed since last post?
Well, a lot! I've been fiddling with the dialogue system mainly, allowing for the addition of scripted sequences with breaks between texts box batches. Furthermore, all levels are finished in terms of layout and simply need to be added to with props.
Animation is now the biggest challenge, as well as the constant tweaking I need to do to the dialogue system despite my best efforts to make an adaptive dialogue model - I'm too inexperienced with developing dialogue systems right now to get it optimised properly, but I won't settle for the final product to not at least have a fully functional dialogue box system. Regardless, I've learned a lot throughout and future projects can learn from this experience.
But back to animation, I've started making them! As well as working on the system that plays scripted animations throughout the story. I can't really show those right now, but I will be showing some images of game scenes down the line.
Oh, sounds! We now have a footstep sound system, as well as ambient sounds and sound effects! I've tracked down some music that fits nicely with the sensitive theme of the game too, which is really making the game feel closer to completion.
Completion - which is drawing closer! I've been silently making a huge amount of progress over the past two weeks, and I plan on updating you more in the following days.
